About Me

I'm a Frontend web developer with a keen interest in UI, UX and the intersection between design and implementation processes.

My approach to work is informed by my previous career in operations and project management, and I view engineering effort in the context of its value to users and business. In my next role I want to consolidate and deepen my technical expertise, but hopefully also draw on my work experience to contribute to the broader business.

Work Experience

Yulife Ltd

Achievements

Technologies / Skills

Self-employed, January - September 2017

Having decided to change careers I took a sabbatical from work and studied full-time using a variety of online resources.

During this period I co-founded a coding group (codepod) hosting regular meet-ups to share knowledge, collaborate on projects and encourage other aspiring developers.

London Metropolitan University, IT Project Manager 2016 – 2017

The need to compete in the changing higher education sector places significant emphasis on the use of technology across all of London Met's traditional functions as a University. In my time at London Met I worked on Lecture Recording and digital distribution, Library Management Systems, transition from internal servers to cloud storage, and a review of document management systems.

123Send, Project Manager, 2014 - 2015

After 5 years in a variety of technical and managerial roles, I established the company's first project manager role. Projects included updating encryption software across a 20,000 strong terminal fleet; introducing new products and services; and coordinating in-house IT infrastructure to align with a parent group. The methodology also required definition and documentation, and the wider company introduced to new methods.

Achievements

2012 - 2014

As Ops Manager I brought technical, customer service and stock management teams together into a coherent operational department. I revised all process documentation to establish consistent, rational standards for workflows and improved the department’s efficiency via a programme of training. In this role my underlying goal was to shift staff values and perceptions and foster a sense of common purpose and individual responsibility.
